The National Day of Iceland is on the 17th June (National Day, founding of republic and dissolution of personal union with Kingdom of Denmark 1944). This is called “Íslenski þjóðhátíðardagurinn” and it is celebrated annually on the 17th June. This day marks the anniversary of Iceland’s independence from Denmark in 1944, when Iceland became a fully sovereign state.

The National Day of Hungary is on the 15th March (1848 Revolution memorial day). Likewise the 20th August (St. Stephen’s day) and the 23rd October (1956 Revolution memorial day). The National Day of Hungary is celebrated on 20th August annually. This day is also known as St. Stephen’s Day, commemorating the first king of Hungary, St. Stephen.

You will note that much like Nicaragua they do share heros such as Francisco Morazán. and others for led their independence drive.

The National Day of Haiti is on the 1 January (Declaration of independence from France 1804). This is also known as Independence Day or Nouvelle Année in Haiti. This day celebrates the anniversary of Haiti’s independence from France in 1804.
The National Day of Guatemala is on the 15 September (Independence from Spain 1821). The National Day of Guatemala is celebrated on the 15th September. This day now marks the country’s independence from the Spanish Empire in 1821. The process started in 1810 with the “Cry of Dolores in Mexico” which sparked a movement throughout Central America .
The National Day of Grenada is on the 7th February (Independence from United Kingdom 1974). Grenada was a British colony for over 200 years before the arrival of independence. This process towards independence started in the 1960’s with the Grenada National Party.
The National Day of Greece is on the 25th March (Declaration of independence from Ottoman Empire 1821). Likewise the 28th October (Ohi Day, rejection of the Italian ultimatum 1940). Because Independence Day or known as the Greek Revolution Day celebrates the start of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire in 1821.

The National Day of Ghana is on the 6 March (Independence Day, from the United Kingdom 1957). Likewise it celebrates the day in 1957 when Ghana who was formerly known as the Gold Coast. They gained its independence from British colonial rule. This is a big day in Ghana and it is a public holiday in Ghana.
The National Day of Germany is on the 3 October (German Unity Day, unification of West Germany and East Germany 1990). This is known as the “Day of German Unity” (Tag der Deutschen Einheit), and it commemorates the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990.

The National Day of Georgia is on the 26th May (Day of First Republic, declaration of independence from Russia in 1918). This day is a public holiday in Georgia to celebrate their independence from the Soviet Union on the 26th May 1991.
The National Day of Gambia is on the 18th February (Independence Day, from the United Kingdom 1965). As you will notice that this day celenrates Gambia’s independence from British colonial rule which ended on the 18th February 1965.
