national dayThe National Day of Estonia is on the 24th February (Independence Day, declaration of independence from the Russia 1918). It is known as the Estonian Independence Day and marks the anniversary of the country’s declaration of independence from Russia in 1918.

This marked the beginning of the country’s independence. The first independence of Estonia lasted until 1940 when the Soviet Union occupied Estonia. It was however in 1991 that Estonia regained its independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

On this day, Estonians usually participate in various celebrations and events that highlight their culture and history. The main event of the day is a flag-raising ceremony that takes place in Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia. This ceremony is attended by the country’s president, government officials, and citizens.
