The National Day of Nigeria is on the 1st October (Independence Day, from United Kingdom 1960. (and republic 1963)), 29 May (Democracy Day, return of democracy 1999). This day celebrates Nigeria’s declaration of independence from British colonial rule on the 1st October 1960.
National Day of Niger
The National Day of Niger is on the 18th December (Republic Day, autonomous state within the French Community 1958). It is the anniversary of Niger’s independence from France in 1960 (National Day of France). See the history on the country as well as its independence day.
National Day of Nicaragua
The National Day of Nicaragua is on the 15 September (Independence from Spain 1821). Their Independence Day or Día de la Patria is celebrated each year. Many of the countries in South America was part of the Spanish Empire. Each broke off from the Spanish as well as from each other.
National Day of New Zealand
The National Day of New Zealand is on the 6 February (Waitangi Day, signing of the Treaty of Waitangi 1840). So as you can see that the National Day of New Zealand is Waitangi Day, which is celebrated annually on the 6th February.
National Day of Netherlands
The National Day of Netherlands is on the (country) 30 April (Queensday, Queen Juliana’s birthday), 5 May (Liberation Day, from Nazi Germany in 1945). (kingdom) 15 December (Kingdom day, signing of the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands 1954).
National Day of Nepal
Nepal’s National Day is celebrated on the 20th September which is known as Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas. The 18th February is however an important day for Nepal. This is what they call National Democracy Day. This is to commemorate the end of the autocratic Rana regime in 1951.
National Day of Nauru
The National Day of Nauru is on the 31 January (Independence from the Australia, NZ, and UK-administered UN trusteeship 1968)
National Day of Namibia
The National Day of Namibia is on the 21st March (Independence Day, from South African mandate 1990). Firstly Namibia was colonized by Germany in the late 19th century. When this ended it became part of South Africa in 1915. This ended in 1990.
National Day of Myanmar
The National Day of Myanmar, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated on the 4th January. However it was on the 1st December (only for 2010). This to commemorate the beginning of student led protests against British colonial government in 1920. See below on the history of what was Burma and today is called Myanmar.
National Day of Mozambique
The National Day of Mozambique is on the 25 June (Independence from Portugal 1975). It is also known as Dia da Independência in Portuguese. The country was colonized by the Portuguese in the late 15th century.
National Day of Morocco
The National Day of Morocco is on the 2nd March (Independence from France 1956). The 2nd March is not celebrated as the National Day of Morocco, but on the 30th July. The 30th July which is known as Throne Day, as it celebrates the ascension of King Mohammed VI to the throne in 1999.
National Day of Montenegro
The National Day of Montenegro is on the 13th July (recognised as independent at the Congress of Berlin 1878), 21 May (independence on the referendum in 2006). Likewise as stated it is celebrated annually on the 13th July and is also known as Statehood Day or Montenegro Day.
