National Day of Barbados

national dayThe National Day of Barbados is 30 November (Independence Day, from the United Kingdom in 1966). This day is also known as Independence Day. This marks the country’s independence from Britain on the 30th November 1966.

Firstly the road to independence was a gradual process. Secondly this with the country gaining internal self-government in 1961 before achieving full independence in 1966. On the National Day of Barbados, the country celebrates its independence with parades, concerts, and other cultural events. There was also Sir Grantley Adams. He was the  first Premier of Barbados and one of the architects of the country’s independence movement. There was also a slave with the name of Bussa who led a rebellion against plantation owners in 1816. It is viewed that he was one of the earliest organized rebellions against slavery in the Caribbean.
