Royal Hobart Regatta
(second Monday of February)
All that part of Tasmania south of and including Oatlands and Swansea excluding Bronte Park, Catagunya, Strathgordon, Tarraleah, Wayatinah and the West Coast.
The Royal Hobart Regatta is a public holiday in Tasmania. This is celebrated on the second Monday of February. It is a major event in the state. Accordingly note that many businesses and schools are closed for the day to allow people to attend or participate in the festivities.
The Royal Hobart Regatta is a celebration of Tasmania’s maritime history and culture. This also features a range of water-based activities such as boat races, swimming events, and water polo matches.
Launceston Cup All Day
(third Wednesday of February)
The Launceston Cup is a major horse racing event in Tasmania. This is held annually on the third Wednesday of February. Although it is not an official public holiday in Tasmania, the Launceston Cup is a very popular event and many businesses and schools in the Launceston area may choose to close for the day or allow their employees/students to attend the races.

Flinders Island Show
(first Friday and Saturday in October)
The Flinders Island Show is an annual agricultural show held on Flinders Island. This is part of Tasmania however it is not a public holiday. As you will note that the Flinders Island Show is not an official public holiday in Tasmania. However it is an important event for the local community. So many businesses may choose to close for the day. See also the National Day of Australia as well as the Western Australia Public Holidays and the Queensland Public Holidays.
